InnoGrid2020+: The European Research and Development Dissemination Seminar

Date: 23/02/2012 -

Presentations and posters now available from InnoGrid2020+.

In the wider context of the European Electricity Grid Initiative (EEGI), ENTSO-E and EDSO for Smart Grids held a European R&D Dissemination Seminar on 23-24 February at ENTSO-E’s premises in Brussels.

The objective of the seminar was to inform on the updated ENTSO-E R&D Plan 2011 and to present Research Development and Demonstration activities of transmission system operators (TSOs) and distribution system operators (DSOs) planned for coming years, and to provide an update on the recently launched GRID+ project that is FP7 project supporting the work of the European Electricity Grid Initiative.

An important part of the seminar was devoted to a poster session on a selection of on-going TSO and DSO projects in the area of RD&D. Participants in the poster session shared their results, inform on planned activities and interact with other projects. The posters are available via the link below. The seminar also addressed the European Energy Strategy and the Evolution of European R&D landscape presented by the European Commission.

The event attracted more than 140 experts from nearly 100 companies, institutions, organisations and EU member state representatives, as well as many distinguished speakers and panellists.

Editorial Notes ENTSO-E

ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, representing 41 Transmission System Operators (TSOs) from 34 countries. TSOs are responsible for the bulk transmission of electric power on the main high voltage electric networks, one of the most important infrastructure backbones of Europe’s service and industrial economy. In the area of R&D ENTSO-E coordinates TSOs to ensure the continued, effective implementation of the mandate regarding the area of R&D under the Third Energy Package and the EEGI which aims at creating an adequate European grid for the purposes of achieving the policy goals set by the European Union.

EDSO for Smart Grids

EDSO for Smart Grids is an International association representing the European Distribution System Operators for electricity, with 27 members, leading players in 16 countries, representing 70 percent of the EU customers, cooperating to bring Smart Grids from vision to reality. EDSO for Smart Grids is together with the European Technology Platform Smart Grids, ENTSO-E and European Commission constituting the Electricity Grid European Industrial Initiative (EEGI), the 9-year European RD&D programme to accelerate innovation and development of the electricity networks of the future in Europe into a Smart Grid.
