This one-day workshop will focus on the European Industrial Initiative on the Electricity Grids (EEGI) and identify which functional domains of the EEGI need to be prioritized. The workshop will also address the European regulatory framework with regards to Research, Development & Deployment (RD&D).
The EU’s 20/20/20 targets, and the European Commission’s ambitious objectives for the decades beyond 2020, have introduced new important challenges for grid operators. A strong effort is, therefore, required to develop additional RD&D activities to meet those challenges.
Grid operators have proposed an comprehensive RD&D roadmap in the framework of the SET Plan initiative.
This RD&D roadmap involves grid operators, manufacturers, ICT providers, grid users and researchers, each within a dedicated and complementary role.
In order to bring the RD&D work on track, a financial and regulatory framework is needed to provide European TSOs with a long term perspective of cost recovery, and thus with access to the resources they require for RD&D. An appropriate financial and regulatory framework is currently missing in several European countries, resulting in lacking incentives for broad participation by European TSOs in RD&D projects.
The objective of this workshop is, thus, to exchange views on the regulatory framework and to inform stakeholders on progress in the area of mapping of transmission/distribution projects.
The workshop will take place:
14 June 2011, 09:30 – 17:00h
SOFITEL BRUSSELS LE LOUISE,
Avenue de la Toison d’Or, 40, 1050 Brussels
Interested participants are asked to register via email, by indicating their full names, contact details and organization to Ms Thanh-Thanh Le Thi (firstname.lastname@example.org ), before 9 June 2011.
