Save-the-date: Network Codes reception & conference on 3 and 4 May 2017

Date: 03/05/2017 - Brussels

What will Network Codes achieve? Which model of the European energy system and markets are they paving the way for? What are the main challenges of their implementation?

The European Commission, ACER, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG are jointly setting up a conference on 4 May 2017 to discuss these questions, celebrating the results achieved so far and looking upon the implementation challenges. The conference will be preceded by an evening reception on 3 May, with the participation of Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete. Both events will be held in Brussels.

Registration details and the conference programme will be made available in the coming weeks.

About the Network Codes:

The Third liberalisation package introduced Network Codes to be developed by the European Commission, ACER, the ENTSOs and stakeholders, as to implement the EU target model for the internal energy market for electricity and gas.

The Network Codes are sets of rules applying to the energy sector, aiming at integrating and coordinating the different processes of the energy markets and systems. By March 2017 all Network Codes will be voted and one by one they will enter into force as European Regulation, covering topics for gas (such as harmonised transmission tariff structures, balancing rules an capacity allocation mechanisms) and for electricity (such as market integration, grid connection, and operational security).
