ENTSO-E presents to the EU its vision on how to put promise to practice

24 June, 17h30 – 19h00, Avenue de Cortenbergh 100, 1000 Brussels

On 24 June, ENTSO-E will hand over its Vision on the Energy Union as a response to the European Commission’s Energy Union Strategy.

The European Power System is in the midst of transformative change: ambitious carbon reduction targets will drive the share of renewable sources of energy to nearly 50% in the power system in the coming decades. Built upon innovation, the energy transition is placing the consumer centre stage. Transparency, empowerment, participation and trust are key factors. The security of supply in Europe can only be assured through solidarity and cooperation among EU Member States. All this puts network operators in a unique position of responsibility towards society as the energy transition will rely upon their strong support.

In response to the European Commission’s Energy Union Strategy ENTSO-E is developing a vision package comprising four executive papers on market design 2.0, on regions to enforce the Internal Energy Market, on better regulation for energy in the EU, and on a new framework for European security of supply. The whole package comprising all four documents will be released at ENTSO-E’s Annual Conference on 20 November.

As the detailed thinking on these papers with concrete proposals is advancing, ENTSO-E already releases its Vision for the Energy Union on 24 June.
